This Privacy Policy describes how Waggi Connected Pets Limited ("Waggi", "we", "us", or "our") handles personal data when you use the Waggi Connected Pets mobile app, our website and online store at waggi.com, and the services connected to your Waggi pet tracker.
If you use the App, you should read this policy alongside our Terms and Conditions. In some cases we will ask for your permission before using certain data, such as location, Bluetooth, camera access, photos, or notifications.

What this policy covers
This policy applies to the Waggi app on iOS and Android, our website and online store at waggi.com, the backend services that support them, and the third-party services we use to run those services.
It does not apply to third-party websites you open from the App, such as support articles or payment pages, except where those providers process data for us under contract.
The information we collect
The data we collect depends on how you use Waggi. In practice, this usually falls into the groups below.
Account details. When you register or manage an account, we collect information such as your name, email address, phone number, verification codes, login method, and session details. If you sign in with Google, Apple, or Facebook, we receive the authentication information needed to verify your account with that provider. We do not receive your social media password.
Pet and tracker information. To provide the service, we collect details about your pet, including name, breed, age, weight, height, photos, feeding preferences, and activity or wellness information from the tracker. We also collect tracker-related information such as device identifiers, firmware version, battery status, connection status, and cellular SIM details where available. If you choose to send diagnostic logs from the tracker, those files are uploaded to help us investigate technical issues.
Location information. Waggi is a location-based service. The App uses your phone's location to show maps, support Live Mode, record walks, and improve tracker accuracy. Your pet's location is received from the tracker through our cloud services and used for tracking, walk history, and virtual fence alerts. If you save a walk, the route is stored as part of your walk history. Virtual fences you create, including their name, address, radius, and coordinates, are also stored. Some location information may be cached on your device to help the App load more quickly. We use Google Maps and Google Directions to display maps and calculate routes.
Payment information. Subscriptions and other purchases are processed by Stripe. We receive billing details such as your name, email address, billing address, subscription status, and order information. Card details are handled by Stripe and are not stored in the App. Apple Pay and Google Pay may be available through Stripe. If you buy optional device insurance at checkout, the insurer's own terms and privacy information apply to that product.
Website and store orders. Our website and online store are hosted on Shopify. When you visit the site or place an order, we collect information such as your name, email address, phone number, billing and shipping addresses, order details, and basic technical information about your visit. Payments are processed by our payment providers; we do not store your full card details. The site uses cookies that are necessary for the shopping cart and checkout to work, along with basic analytics cookies. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
Device and technical information. We collect information needed to run and secure the App, including your device type, operating system, app version, device identifier, notification token, Bluetooth status, crash reports, and support messages you send through "Report an issue". We use Firebase for push notifications and crash reporting. We do not use Firebase Analytics in the App.
Communications preferences. You can choose which types of alerts you want to receive, such as virtual fence, battery, and firmware notifications.
The App is intended for users aged 18 or over. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect children's personal data.
How we use your information
We use personal data to:
- create and manage your account;
- connect your phone to your pet's tracker;
- show location, activity, sleep, wellness, and walk information;
- provide Live Mode, walk recording, and virtual fence alerts;
- send service notifications you have agreed to receive;
- process orders, subscriptions, and payments, and arrange delivery;
- maintain, secure, and improve the App and our website;
- respond to support requests and account deletion requests; and
- meet our legal obligations and enforce our terms.
We do not sell your personal data.
Legal basis if you are in the EEA or UK
Waggi is established in Ireland. Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process personal data on one or more of the following grounds:
- Contract: to provide the App and related services you sign up for, including account access, tracker connectivity, location features, store orders, and billing.
- Consent: where required for certain permissions or notifications on your device.
- Legitimate interests: to keep the service secure, prevent misuse, and fix technical problems, including through crash reporting.
- Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose information to comply with law.
You may withdraw consent at any time where we rely on it, without affecting processing that has already taken place.
Device permissions
The App needs certain phone permissions to work properly. These include internet access, location (including background location where you allow it), Bluetooth, camera and photo library access for pet photos, notifications, and foreground services that keep tracking and sync running while the App is in use.
You can change many of these permissions in your phone settings. If you disable a required permission, some features may stop working.
When we share information
We share personal data with trusted service providers who help us run Waggi, including providers used for hosting, tracker connectivity, maps, sign-in, payments, our online store, deliveries, notifications, and crash reporting. These currently include Amazon Web Services, Google, Apple, Meta, Stripe, Shopify, and Firebase.
These providers process data only to perform services for us and are subject to appropriate contractual protections. Payment card data is processed by our payment providers under their own privacy and security standards.
We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect Waggi, our users, or others, or in connection with a business transaction such as a merger or sale of assets.
International transfers
Some of our service providers process data outside Ireland or your home country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for those transfers, such as standard contractual clauses.
Because Waggi is based in Ireland, we are not required to appoint a separate EU representative under Article 27 GDPR.
How long we keep information
Some information is stored on your device so the App can work offline or load faster. This includes account session data, preferences, pet profile details, walk data, and cached location information. Data remains on your device until you log out, remove the App, or delete your account.
On our servers, we generally keep account and service data while your account remains active. If you delete your account, we aim to permanently delete associated data within about 30 days, although limited backup copies may remain for a short period before being overwritten. Billing, order, and subscription records may be kept longer where tax, accounting, or legal rules require it. Crash logs are kept according to Firebase Crashlytics settings, and tracker diagnostic logs are kept only for as long as needed to deal with the issue you reported.
Once deletion is complete, deleted information cannot be recovered.
Security
We use technical and organisational measures designed to protect personal data, including secure connections, authenticated access to our services, and local App storage within the phone's application sandbox. No online service can be guaranteed completely secure, and you are responsible for keeping your device and login details safe.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to certain processing of your personal data, to receive a copy of your data, or to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
You can delete your account from the App's account settings. When you do, you will be logged out and the data linked to your account, including pet profiles, photos, and statistics, will be permanently deleted within about 30 days, except where we must keep certain records by law.
You can manage notification categories in the App and turn off push notifications in your device settings.
To make a privacy request, email michelle@waggi.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law, usually within one month. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.
If you are in the EEA or UK and are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you may complain to your local supervisory authority. Our lead authority is the Data Protection Commission in Ireland: dataprotection.ie, 21 Fitzwilliam Square South, Dublin 2, D02 RD28, Ireland.
California residents
If you are a California resident, you may have additional rights to know, access, delete, or correct personal information, and to opt out of certain sharing arrangements where applicable. We do not sell personal information, and we do not use the App for cross-context behavioural advertising. To exercise your rights, contact michelle@waggi.com.
Third-party services and links
The App links to our Terms and Conditions, this Privacy Policy, and our support site. Integrated services such as Google, Apple, Meta, Stripe, Shopify, and Firebase also have their own privacy policies, which govern their handling of data they process directly.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date above and, where required by law, give you additional notice or ask for renewed consent. Continued use of the App after an update means you accept the revised policy, subject to applicable law.
Governing law and contact
This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of Ireland. Disputes relating to it are subject to the courts of Ireland, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country require otherwise.
