Waggi Basic Guide

New to Waggi? This guide covers the essentials of your tracker and app.

1. Meet your Waggi tracker

The Waggi tracker is a wearable GPS device for dogs and cats from around 4 kg upwards. It attaches to your pet's collar or harness using the hooks on the back, and connects to the app over Bluetooth and to our cloud over its built-in cellular SIM.

2. Set up your account and tracker

Download the Waggi app, create an account (you can also sign in with Google, Apple, or Facebook), and follow the Tracker Setup Tutorial to pair your device. Then create your pet's profile — name, breed, age, weight, and a photo. Allow the requested permissions (location, Bluetooth, notifications) so all features work properly.

3. Subscription and data connection

Waggi subscription

Just like a smartphone, Waggi needs a data connection so you can receive your pet's GPS position 24/7. A subscription lets your tracker's built-in SIM card share location anywhere in the world using a cellular connection. Choose the plan that suits you in the app — you can cancel anytime with a simple click and no additional costs.

4. Map, Live Mode, and virtual fences

The map shows your pet's latest location. Use Live Mode to see their position in real time — handy if they've wandered off. Set up virtual fences around safe zones like your home or garden, and get notified when your pet leaves or enters them (long-press the marker to move a fence). When your pet is in a safe zone, the tracker saves battery by updating location less often.

5. Walks, activity, and wellness

Start a walk from the app to record your route, duration, and your pet's steps. Review your walk history and today's statistics anytime. Waggi also tracks activity and sleep, and gives your pet a wellness score that adapts to their lifestyle.

6. Battery care and everyday tips

  • Charge the tracker regularly — you'll get an alert when the battery is low.
  • Enable battery, virtual fence, and firmware notifications so you never miss an important alert.
  • Keep the app and tracker firmware up to date.
